WORK EXPERIENCE

ATHLETES FIRST, INTERN

June - August 2017

As a summer intern for Athletes First, one of the top NFL agencies, I was involved in a wide variety of projects ranging from marketing to client maintenance. I assisted the marketing team in market research, concentrating on identifying sponsorship opportunities between athletes and brands in an effort to increase brand awareness and player satisfaction. Development of social media campaigns was another critical task in an effort to find new creative ways for brands to engage with their audiences. I assisted agents in generating recruiting profiles of prospective clients along with creating contract negotiation summaries and depth charts to identify trade opportunities. Throughout the summer, I also conducted research on the player market and developed a contract extension proposal for a current NFL player. Through my experience with client maintenance, I was able to work directly with professional athletes, ensuring that their needs were met- whether it was obtaining a lawn mower in Oklahoma or picking up cuff links for the ESPYs.

UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN FOOTBALL OFFICE, RECRUITING INTERN

September 2015 - May 2017

As an intern with the football office for two years, I gained a unique understanding of the inner workings of an elite-level football program. I began in the Player Personnel department and was in charge of communicating with high schools to obtain the official transcripts and test scores of athletes. I gained event experience while working as a liaison for prospective players and their families on game days while facilitating pre- and post-game activities. I then transitioned to working in the Recruiting department where I created weekly reports of the top prospects along with the recruiting activity of other schools nationwide. Working in such a large organization, learning how to communicate both horizontally and vertically became an important skill that I was able to hone during my time here.

MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL, BASEBALL ASSISTANCE TEAM INTERN

June - August 2016

I interned with the Baseball Assistance Team during my time in New York, which is a 501 (c) that is focused on providing financial, psychological, or medical assistance to members of the Baseball Family that are in need. I updated B.A.T.'s contact database to maximize communication between the organization and both donors and players. I utilized my familiarity with social media to create a campaign over multiple digital platforms to promote awareness and extend B.A.T.'s influence into new communities. Communication with grant applicants was another one of my responsibilities as I prepared their application material for monthly grant calls. I also conducted interviews with current Major League players regarding their support of B.A.T.

POLSKY SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT, INTERN

May - August 2015

While interning with this boutique sports marketing company, I gained valuable experience with a start-up and better understood the steps needed to establish oneself as a successful business in the industry. I researched upcoming charity events, schools, and golf courses to establish contacts and assist the CEO in booking events for their respective auctions. Establishing a larger digital presence was another priority so I formulated email blasts and Facebook posts to generate engagement. I also generated sales material and assisted the team with sales support.

UCLA FOOTBALL OFFICE, RECRUITING INTERN

June- August 2015

Working with the UCLA Football Office gave me my first insights into the fast-paced sports industry. I organized and administered the recruiting database, constantly updating it with changes of address and communication dates. I utilized Photoshop to create team graphics, recruiting credentials, and materials for various football camps. I also honed customer service skills, carried out administrative duties, and facilitated meetings with the coaching staff.

LOS ANGELES SPORTS & ENTERTAINMENT COMMISSION (LASEC), PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

June - July 2015

While working with LASEC as a member of the Professional Development Program, I visited sports and entertainment professional throughout Los Angeles while learning about their respective companies and journeys to success. I marketed and recruited for the Special Olympics World Games "Fans in the Stands" program. I also volunteered as event staff for Dodgers All-Access that brings together fans and Dodgers alum, where I served as a talent liaison throughout the program.
